One reason I like Waterlox is its shelf life. When my first grandson was a little kid, I made him a rocking horse and finished it with original Waterlox. To preserve the left over finish, I squeezed the rectangular metal can in a vise until the liquid level reached the top of the can spout and tightly replaced the screwed-on lid. The rocking horse passed from family to family and eventually landed back at my house. It had dings and scratches and my grandson, now 21, wanted back. I found the original can and touched it up by wiping over the damage. The Waterlox was perfectly preserved with no gelling. The horse looks like new.
